Over the past 12 months, 12 of our incredible Year 4 children have been working in partnership with Asda on a Global Citizen Project, exploring some of the biggest challenges we face as both a community and a planet. With sustainability at the heart of their mission, our fantastic team β The Environment Enforcers β have been designing and delivering a social action project thatβs made a real difference. π
From pledging to reduce, reuse and recycle, to supporting our ecosystem by planting flowers, the children have truly lived out their promise to make an impact. They've been litter picking, raising awareness of composting, and have even grown their own vegetables in our school garden. With their harvest, they prepared 30 soup packs complete with recipe cards, which were delivered to the Mission CafΓ© in Huddersfield and will also be sold at our Summer Fair β with all proceeds going back into buying seeds and bulbs to keep the project growing! πΈπ₯π²
Yesterday, the children took their inspiring project to Asda House in Leeds, where they proudly presented their work to a panel of judges and other schools, competing for awards in four categories: Overall Winner, Planet Award, People Award and Prosperity Award.
We are absolutely THRILLED to share that our team WON the Planet Award for the positive impact their project is having on the environment! ππ
The children spoke confidently, set up a brilliant stall, and showcased all their hard work with pride. We are so incredibly proud of their passion, commitment, and teamwork. They truly are young changemakers, and this is just the beginning! π«π
